The Global Alliance for Peace Operations is a community of research – a network of think tanks, research institutions and other civil society organizations working on peace operations with a strong focus on stimulating the exchange and transfer of knowledge among a global community of partners.

The Alliance is led by a core group of three organizations: the Global Governance Institute (GGI), Amani Africa Media and Research Services (Amani Africa) and the Center for International Peace Operations (ZIF). The core group liaises with the organizers of the Peacekeeping Ministerial 2025 (PKM), namely the German Ministry of Defence (MoD) and the German Federal Foreign Office (GFFO), who are looking to the core group to facilitate the systematic engagement of civil society alongside the PKM.

The main aim of the Alliance is to foster synergies between representatives of communities of researchers, think tanks and civil society in the run-up to the PKM. It seeks to advance cooperation and share knowledge on opportunities, challenges and future avenues for UN peace operations.
